GP Strategies Corporation is currently seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time, benefited, salaried position. This position is remote, however candidates need to be within a reasonable commuting distance to the Troy, MI office. The role requires the ability to commute to the office as needed for in-person meetings, and other business-related activities. Overview: GP Strategies Corporation is seeking a knowledgeable and pragmatic Employee Relations Specialist to join our North Americas HR team. This position serves as a trusted partner to employees and managers, providing day-to-day support on a wide range of HR matters. This ideal candidate brings strong HR generalist experience with exposure to multi-state operations. Individuals with experience in staffing agencies or temporary workforce transitions often thrive in this type of role, given the fast-paced and dynamic nature of the work. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead employee relations investigations, ensuring a fair, thorough, and legally sound process.
- Advise managers on performance management issues, including coaching, disciplinary actions, and development planning.
- Provide day-to-day HR guidance and advisory support to employees and leaders on HR policies, procedures, and programs.
- Draft and administer documentation related to employment actions (e.g., promotions, transfers, terminations).
- Conduct job evaluations and guide decisions on employee classification (e.g., FLSA status, employee vs. contractor).
- Advise on and assist with staff transitions related to contract changes, including onboarding, transitioning employees, coordinating with incumbent employees (if applicable), and managing communications and documentation associated with the change.
- Generate and analyze HRIS reports for workforce planning, compliance, and leadership decisions.
- Support the administration of leave programs, accommodations, and return-to-work planning.
- Support compensation processes, including internal equity reviews, benchmarking, and salary recommendations.
- Participate in policy development and continuous improvement of HR processes aligned with a professional services culture.
- Conduct exit interviews and identify trends to inform employee retention strategies.
- Ensure compliance with local, state/provincial, and federal employment laws, as well as company policies.
- Assist with policy development, updates, and training to support consistent application across the organization.
- Partner with other HR areas, such as Benefits, payroll, HRIS, and Talent Acquisition, as needed.
- Contribute to HR-related projects, audits, and process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
- At least five (5) years of HR generalist experience in a multi-state environment, with three (3) years focused on employee relations. Experience with Canada is a plus.
- HR certification, such as SHRM-CP or PHR, is preferred.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms and report generation (e.g., Workday, Oracle, ADP).
- Strong skills in MS Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas)
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills, with experience in HR reporting and compliance tracking.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to adapt and work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, changing environment with competing and shifting priorities.
- Business acumen with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Ability to assess situations and make sound judgments based on practice or previous experience.
- High attention to detail, organizational agility, and ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $90-$110K annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
