Position Description

The Compensation Specialist provides direct support to teammates and managers in the administration of compensation, incentive and rewards/recognition programs. In addition, they will partner with the Compensation Consultant(s) to review and update internal processes and procedures related to the administration of all compensation programs. This individual will work on special projects, mergers and acquisitions, and act as a resource to the Human Resource team as it relates to compensation administration.

Position Accountabilities



  • Ensure job and compensation information is entered, changed or deleted as necessary in the HR system to maintain the accuracy of records; research and resolve errors and omissions.
  • Provide assistance to managing the job description library.
  • Support the data needs of the Compensation team including, but not limited to, survey compilation and the preparation of Compensation Committee materials.
  • Prepare Board of Director payout files according to approved compensation schedule.
  • Provide support as needed with the annual merit process.
  • Ensures accuracy of job description libraries.
  • Coordinate the distribution and receipt of incentive plan documents and acknowledgements and maintain incentive plan inventory.
  • Monitor and assist with teammate questions submitted through the HR case management system.
  • Maintain all communication channels to ensure compensation materials are up-to-date.
  • Maintain procedure and process documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as directed, and assist with special projects as assigned.


Organizational Relationship

The Compensation Specialist reports to the Compensation Manager

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience within an HR function.
  • Previous compensation experience preferred with working knowledge of certain regulations including FLSA and other wage and hour laws.

  • Excellent data and analytical and critical thinking skills required.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to successfully meet schedules and honor deadlines.
  • Ability to perform duties in an independent, effective and timely manner while demonstrating initiative and resourcefulness in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service skills with excellent verbal and written communications skills required. Ability to understand and explain technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal, multi-tasking skills and attention to detail.
  • High level of maturity and ability to deal in confidence with sensitive and personal information.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Excel, Powerpoint, HR systems and database applications.


Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
