This position is located on the Peoria campus 170 miles southwest of Chicago. (On-Site Work - Not Remote).

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) educates 265 medical students and more than 300 physician residents and fellows annually. Additionally, it provides clinical care to more than 31,000 patients annually and conducts basic science, clinical and outcomes research. Position Summary
This position manages advanced business responsibilities for the Department of Pediatrics, budget development and assists in strategic fiscal planning. The Senior Business Manager executes business operations including but not limited to contracting, generation and distribution of financial & productivity reports, data analysis and providing business insights serving as a resource. The position works under the general supervision of the Pediatrics Director of Administrative Operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides specialized analysis, input, review and reporting within the Department of Pediatrics with all contracts, but primarily in the area of the Physician Service Agreement (PSA) Updates PSA exhibits while investigating deviations from the budget Manages approved modifications to the PSA Recommends and implements changes to the PSA and pediatrics financials Collects data to organize and compute annual PSA Performance/Incentive plan
  • Department Financials/Fiscal Operations Prepares and analyzes monthly summary reports for all divisions Prepares and presents an anticipated annual budget Partners with the Senior Research Specialist for post award financial analysis, purchasing for grants and post award monitoring. Monitors balances of all pediatric funds and identifies financial issues as well as provide corrective recommendations to management Submits monthly variable compensation to payroll
  • Oversees all pediatric contracts including funds and no funds agreements. Submits all required information to generate new contracts/renewals. Ensures contracts and all invoices are receiving payment Ensures compliance with all contracts and coverage Submit data for invoicing to chief accountant
  • Collaborates with the Director of Administrative Operations to answer departmental questions related to data, financials, and business operations and serve as a technical resource. Assists in the development of departmental operational procedures then shares, trains, and implement changes
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications

      1. Bachelor's degree in accountancy, business administration, management, or a closely related field.

      2. OR

      3. Three (3) years (36 months) of work experience in accounting, business administration, fiscal management, or closely related experience.

      4. OR

      5. A combination of such education and/or work experience above totaling three (3) years (36 months), as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
        • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
        • 60 semester hours or an Associate's Degree equals eighteen months (18 months)
        • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)

    1. AND

    2. Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience in accounting, business administration, financial operations, fiscal management, or closely related experience, including one (1) year (12 months) of which is at a supervisory or administrative level.

      NOTE: A Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.
