Job Description Lead BI Engineer 212 W 2nd St, Winona, MN 55987 HEADD Full-time Shift(s): MON TUE WED THU FRI 8:00am - 5:00pm OVERVIEW: Working as Full-time Lead BI Engineer, you will drive the design and delivery of business intelligence and reporting solutions across the enterprise using Microsoft Fabric, Databricks. You will be responsible for building curated semantic models, reusable datasets, and intuitive dashboards that provide actionable insights to business stakeholders. This role also includes modernizing legacy BI platforms, ensuring data quality and governance, and leading a team of BI professionals in delivering scalable reporting frameworks. RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: o Designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade BI dashboards, paginated reports, and analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric (Power BI) o Creating and managing curated datasets, semantic models, and data marts to support enterprise reporting o Leading the migration and modernization of legacy BI systems (e.g., SSRS, SSAS, Oracle Reports, APEX Reports) to cloud-native platforms o Defining and documenting enterprise-wide KPIs, data definitions, and governance practices o Optimizing Power BI datasets and dashboards for performance, access control, and refresh efficiency o Implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines and source control for Power BI artifacts using tools like GitHub or Azure DevOps o Providing technical leadership and mentorship to BI developers and analysts, ensuring best practices in data modeling and report development o Working cross-functionally with business units to gather requirements, validate data, and deliver high-impact visualizations and paginated reports o Ensuring compliance with data security, access policies, and audit requirements REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: The following skills and qualifications are required for this position: o Possess a bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field OR equivalent experience o Possess at least 5 years of experience in BI-Reporting development, Data Analytics/Engineering o Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric/Power BI components, Databricks o Familiarity with legacy tools such as SSRS, SSAS, Oracle Reports, or APEX o Expertise in SQL, data warehouse design, and ETL development o Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven ability to translate business needs into technical deliverables o Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork o Pass the required drug screen and background check (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY) PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: o Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) or equivalent experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Engineering o Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Bicep), Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) ABOUT US: Since 1967 Fastenal has grown as a distributor of industrial and construction supplies from a single branch to a Fortune 500 company with over 3,000 servicing locations, each providing tailored local inventory and personal service for our customers. COMPENSATION: The pay range for this position is $100,000 - 120,000. |
