About the Position The current Community Services Officer (CSO) assignment for this recruitment is for a position with the Windsor Police Department, a contract city with the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.
As the sole CSO within the Town of Windsor, you will be working both independently and as part of the Windsor Police Department team. You will have the responsibility to inventory and transport all evidence and property to the Sheriff’s Office Property/Evidence Unit, track the maintenance of the Windsor Police Department fleet of vehicles, and manage abandoned vehicle abatement and parking complaints. You will also assist with front desk duties including answering phone calls, assisting visitors in the lobby of the department, taking misdemeanor crime reports (only misdemeanor reports without suspect info), and conducting outreach and public safety presentations to various community groups.
What You Bring The ideal candidate will be a team player with the ability to work independently, will maintain a high level of customer service no matter the situation, and will possess many of the following: • Ability to communicate with diverse audiences • Knowledge of modern office practices and computer skills and managing multi-line phones • Capability to remain calm, clear, and in control when working with difficult or irate individuals • Ability to effectively problem-solve • Defensive driver course training • Ability to work professionally with internal staff, outside agencies, and the public • Knowledge or ability to learn penal codes and vehicle codes • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
