Work Location Los Alamos National Laboratory - Los Alamos, NM Employment Type Full-Time / Onsite Clearance Type DOE Q Clearance (Position will be cleared to this level) Job Summary / Overview Omega Technical Services is seeking a Learning Specialist III or IV for The Weapons Mission Services Division (WMS-DO) at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM.
The Weapons Mission Services Division (WMS-DO) is seeking highly skilled Learning Specialist to directly support training programs within the Facility Training & Compliance group (WMS-2). The primary core tasks of the position will support facility-related functions and other applicable nuclear facility programs with formal qualification and certification of personnel performing work in Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Production (ALDWP) facilities.
The Learning Specialists 3 and 4 will report directly to the TA55 Projects Training First Line Manager (FLM). TheLearning Specialist will perform day-to-day training services for the assigned customer and be a dedicated expert in applying the various requirements and drivers. Additionally, they will have the responsibility and accountability to execute work that supports important training deliverables while setting the standards for utmost professional behavior and integrity in the workplace at all times. This positionrequires work off-normal days/hours (i.e. swing shift, weekends) in support of 24/7 Operations. Learning Specialist 3
- Working with customers, stakeholders and regulators to assure training programs meet customer needs, regulatory drivers and contractual requirements.
- Assisting with developing, implementing, and maintaining training documents and records, both physical and electronic.
- Researching complex training and education issues and recommending sound, practical solutions.
- Assisting with developing, implementing, and maintaining compliant and high-quality course materials such as live classroom, on-the-job and/or web-based training for diverse audiences.
- Developing and/or conducting classroom training and OJT as assigned.
- Using UTrain occasionally to design, build and implement training programs, as well as tracking completion of training assignments; using UTrain data to provide customized reporting that adds value to the business needs of the organization served.
Learning Specialist 4
Additional duties:
- Participating in assessments, incident investigations, root cause analyses, data analysis, project management, or critiques, as assigned.
- Performing various administrative functions in conjunction with or in support of operational program compliance, including planning, prioritizing, and scheduling of training activities.
- Participating in knowledge preservation, capture, and transfer projects in support of learning deliverables as desired by the customer.
Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Familiarity with integrated safety, formality of operations, facility availability, compliance, performance, maintenance, engineering, safety basis, readiness, configuration management, work control, quality assurance, feedback and improvement.
- Advanced experience working with high-hazard operations in a nuclear facility setting. Experience with training and/or mentoring others in various technical operations.
- Experience with conducting classroom training and/or On-the-Job Training.
- Seasoned professional in handling multiple competing priorities in a complex, fast-paced operational environment.
- Advanced knowledge in working with confidential or proprietary information, classified documents or sensitive information, including PII training records.
- Strong understanding of safety and security requirements to individual responsibility and as applicable to training activities.
- Advanced skill with interpersonal, written and verbal communications.
- Proven experience in transferring knowledge effectively to both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Proven skillset in using excellent communication to provide top-notch customer service.
Education/Experience for the Learning Specialist 3: Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Education/Experience for the Learning Specialist 4: Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 10 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Additional Requirements:
- Baccalaureate Degree and 1 year of job-related experience.
- Instructional Technologists should have a baccalaureate degree in Training or Education.
- Training or education for instructional technologists must include courses on the SAT process including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Instructional technologist training may include evaluation of training materials, instructor evaluation, and training and qualification program assessment.
Desired Qualifications:
- TSQP qualified, or ability to become qualified.
- Familiarity with ALDWP facility operations or nuclear facility and/or manufacturing operations, in general.
- Expertise in nuclear facility-related subject matter areas (e.g. radiation protection, criticality safety, nuclear material control accountability, integrated safety, conduct of operations, engineering, maintenance).
- Experience as an AP-01000 Preparer for training documents and/or familiar with formal preparation of documents and document control.
- DOE Q-Clearance and Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification highly desired.
