Position Description

Your Opportunity:

You will provide technical program analysis and senior advisory support for the Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration Office of Defense Programs (NA-10) in coordinating the functions of the Nuclear Weapons Council (NWC), the NWC Standing and Safety Committee (NWCSSC), and the NWC Action Officer's Working Group.

You will work daily in the DOE Forrestal Building in Washington, DC. Telework options may be available, based on client approval and volume of classified work.

What You Will Do:

* Provide executive-level technical and program management support to the NWC Executive Action Officer.

* Develop reports and review technical inputs regarding nuclear weapons operations and the nuclear weapons complex.

* Research, draft, and review technical and programmatic briefings, talking points, white papers, narratives, analyses, and other products for use in the NNSA decision-making process, ensuring they are accurate and convey complex program and technical issues.

* Contribute to the preparation of joint, annual DoD/DOE reports for delivery to the President and/or Congress, including National Security Memorandums, Plans, Directives, statutory one-time and annual reports, and prepared testimony.

* Build, coordinate, and manage weekly schedules, meetings, staff summaries, performance reports, and briefings in support of the NWC Executive Action Officer.

* Integrate analysis and studies of issues affecting the nuclear weapons stockpile and infrastructure; review, analyze, and provide recommendations on these reports to the appropriate authority within DOE/NNSA and the DoD.

* Work directly with Federal Program Managers on all NSC -related business.

* Review and draft comments on formal inquiries from Congress, members of the National Security Council (NSC), NATO office constituents, senior primary offices of record. Provide strategic communications support to ensure consistent messaging for senior leaders and external stakeholders.

What You Will Need:

* Active DOE Q or DoD Top Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain a DOE SCI

* Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, policy, or related field required.

* 10+ years demonstrated experience managing nuclear defense-related programs, implementing strategic policy decisions, and advising senior government officials on time-sensitive and complex matters related to the nuclear deterrent.

* 15+ years of experience in the national security and/or nuclear weapons fields.

* Strong understanding of nuclear weapons operations and the nuclear weapons complex.

* Demonstrated leadership and experience in providing technical, analytical, and project management support to U.S. government customers for national security projects in DOE/NNSA and/or the Department of Defense and in the proper handling and dissemination of classified information.

* Strong understanding of the structure, functions, and activities of the Nuclear Weapons Council, its committees, and Action Officers Working Group.

* General knowledge of NNSA organization and structure.

* Be capable of working in demanding, demanding environments related to political or national security matters.

* Superior analytical, writing, and briefing skills.

* Ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks and assignments with limited oversight.

* Be able to adapt to a constantly changing environment and be comfortable working independently and within a team environment.

* Experience as an action officer preferred.
