Payroll Administrator - PR0725

Sanders Brothers Construction is currently seeking a Payroll Administrator to support the Company's payroll process. This position will work with our Payroll Manager to assist with processing payroll and activities supporting that process.

Sanders Brothers Construction Company, Inc. is a fully bonded, licensed and insured general contractor of heavy highway, street and road construction located in North Charleston, South Carolina. Our area of work includes residential and commercial developments, as well as heavy highway and DOT construction. We have the capability of performing a turn-key site work package in-house to include cost estimation, project management, surveying, grading, asphalt paving, concrete curb, gutter and flatwork, storm drainage and water and sewer systems. We also have three asphalt production plants, an active concrete and asphalt recycling division which includes a mobile crusher that travels around the southeast, as well as a soil stabilization division.

Responsibilities

  • Update payroll records by verifying and recording changes affecting net wages such as federal and state tax exemptions, insurance coverage, etc., and data concerning compensation increases, promotions, and/or transfer of employees between departments.
  • Track record of computing wages and deductions, reviews for accuracy, and posts to payroll records.
  • Process wage increases, update 401k deduction changes, update employee records, update direct deposit/banking information.
  • Review electronic timekeeping systems or manually collect and review timesheets.
  • Calculating payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings, and deductions.
  • Preparing and issuing earnings statements.
  • Issue paychecks, upload electronic paystubs into the Company's employee paystub portal and managing direct deposits.
  • Coordinating with the HR Team to ensure correct employee data.
  • Providing administrative assistance to the accounting department.
  • Providing information and answering employee questions about pay-related matters.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 3-5 years of payroll experience.
  • Experience in the construction industry (preferred).
  • Experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Effective time management with high attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must meet SBCC's employment standards regarding background checks and drug test policy prior to hire and maintain throughout the term of employment.


Preferred Skills

  • Viewpoint Construction Software or similar ERP experience considered a bonus
