This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm MST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer 2 - 4 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of training will be aligned with your schedule.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Provides concurrent and retrospective review to improve chart documentation
  • Analyzes chart for missing or incomplete documentation for clinical treatment decisions, diagnoses and interventions
  • Identifies opportunities for chart documentation improvement. Creates and analyzes queries to improve clinical documentation of principle diagnosis, co-morbidities, procedures, present on admission status and quality core measures
  • Collaborate with the clinical and ancillary departments to create, improve and monitor processes that enhance quality and productivity systemwide
  • Facilitate modifications to clinical documentation
  • Collects and reviews provide data and information
  • Verifies coding abstract reflects correct ICD codes
  • Collaborates with appropriate parts to review cases to ensure accuracy of final coded data
  • Assists in developing and reporting on performance measures
  • Provides education and training
  • Develop and implement clinical documentation improvement plans for physicians and qualified health care providers
  • Creates and executes clinical education for coding staff
  • Develop education and follow up planning for clinical documentation improvement staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Graduate with CDI (Clinical Documentation Integrity)
  • 1+ years of experience with CDI (Clinical Documentation Integrity)
  • 1+ years of experience with communicating & working closely with physicians
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with PC in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability to work full time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm MST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 2+ years of clinical acute care hospital experience
  • 2+ years of CDI experience
  • CAC experience
  • CCDS, CDIP, or CCS certification


Telecommuting Requirements:



  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Reside in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $58,800 to $105,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
