Job Summary:The Engineering Director is a strategic capital engineering leader for an Industrial supply chain comprised of chemical operations, equipment operations, and a fleet (excludes mega capex projects). This role has ultimate accountability to deliver capital projects (cost, scope, schedule, escalations, etc.) helping our teams in North America be successful including the entire life cycle from ROI assessment to PSSR and startup. The Engineering Director will also serve as the network's strategic reliability leader helping the sites (especially the PSM chemical sites) deliver on mechanical integrity performance incorporating TPM and industry best practices to evolve MTBF, NOV's, and MTTR for maximum uptime performance.

Locations: Role is hybrid out of Naperville, IL (corporate), or one of the following plants: Fresno, TX, Ellwood City, PA, Clearing (Chicago), Garyville, LA

What You Will Do:

Engineering

  • Own capital execution including alignment on financial viability/integrity.
  • Develops 3-5-year engineering strategy focused on fundamental safety & reliability, innovation, customer growth, productivity, and strategic change.
  • Effective management of the operating unit's capital budget and CAR process
  • Own the CRB and TBR process for the operating unit, in compliance with process set by central team. Participates in every single CRB and TRB.
  • Partners with the site capital managers on the business case and value engineering for all projects.
  • Establish career development roadmap for operating unit engineering team/s. Establish a way to rotate engineers around sites/roles to grow overall network capabilities. Function as the network's Engineering SME.
  • Roadblock removal and escalation resolution on all capital projects to ensure timely delivery (establish a capital scorecard for operating unit and escalation process)

Reliability

  • Set the standards and the expectations for reliability across the network sites, including, where we are in KPIs, what needs to be done differently, what we need to be driving, how do we achieve the KPIs in the reliability space.
  • Spend extensive time "boots on the ground" at the sites, working with reliability & maintenance managers to build a community and drive KPIs
  • Serve as executive sponsor for each site on their TPM journey for the AM & PM pillar. Understand best practice on AM & PM and be able to make connections across the sites and with the TPM CoE.
  • Develop the 3-5-year mechanical integrity strategy & tie with the SH&E Director, site leaders, and Engineering capital plan.
  • Manage metrics reporting (i.e. scorecard) and other reporting, for across the operating unit. Compares these metrics across the operating sites to identify trends and move to execute improvement areas. Continuously improve the MTBF, MTTR, Spare part inventory, etc.
  • Correctly manage assets (own roadmap) per the standard and/or align with central team on needed standards.
  • Asset strategy w/ useful life across the network which includes a 5-10 year asset plan
  • Lead development of annual asset downtime plans for reliability and maintenance

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Logistics, Operations Management, Business, or related field
  • 10+ years' experience in Engineering or other related roles
  • Program leadership experience leading large cross-functional initiatives
  • Experience leading teams with 5+ direct reports
  • Proven value delivery and KPI delivery
  • Knowledge of financial measurements of Supply Chain
  • Tactical and Strategic Thinker
  • Ability to partner and influence stakeholders and cross-functional leaders
  • Strong written and verbal executive communication

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to drive transformational change and standardize processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a robust performance culture including the use of KPIs to drive continuous improvement
  • MBA or advanced degree
  • Black Belt Certification, PMP Certification
  • Strong financial acumen, and business acumen
  • Experience of ERP/SC System and Planning Solution tools or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience having communicated and influenced at the Chief Supply Chain Officer and/or Division President level
  • Demonstrates resilience and works well in ambiguous environments with a variety of stakeholders
  • Fosters an environment of collaboration, accountability, and trust
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to develop effective relationships
  • Experience building and developing high-performing teams and leaders
  • Key account management exposure or experience

Annual or Hourly Compensation Range

The base salary range for this position is $157,400.00 - $236,200.00. This position is eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentives based on performance, per plan terms. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.
