Job Summary Applies professional concepts, department/unit, and campus / medical center policies and procedures to resolve a variety of complex issues in one or more IT areas of specialization. Analyzes complex issues. Within defined procedures and practices, determines appropriate action.
The Information Systems Analyst provides functional and technical expertise for supported systems related to data integrations and business processes, working in partnership within the department and other operational organizations and technical units.
The Analyst applies expertise to solve complex problems across a variety of applications and services, and works independently to provide critical production support and to proactively identify business processes improvements and recommended technical solutions.
Responsibilities include daily production support and incident management, solution design, and documentation, system enhancements and upgrades, and support for the implementation of new applications.
Involves technology-based analysis of business practices, processes, and problems; developing solutions which may involve process design, data and information architecture, software development, and policy or procedural changes; creating specifications for systems to meet requirements; validating requirements against needs; designing details of automated systems; developing user interface design; planning and executing unit integration and end-user acceptance testing; may develop training materials for system implementation. May lead cross-functional teams to solve complex business or systems issues.
Additional responsibilities may include oversight for support and enhancements for specific subareas of the UCSF Police department either through specific applications and processes, or through a geographic domains, such as Oakland, St. Francis/St.Mary's, or other specific campus environments. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- General knowledge of several areas of IT.
- Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals, and software. Understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Basic knowledge of incident response procedures. Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications
- Demonstrated experience with database administration.
- Knowledge of data management systems, practices, and standards.
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting Law enforcement agencies
- Knowledge relating to the design and development of software. Basic knowledge of secure software development.
- Knowledge of business processes and procedures. Knowledge of the design, development, and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer security tools, best practices, and policies. Demonstrated skills applying security controls to computer software and hardware.
- Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
- Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.
- Demonstrated understanding of how system management actions affect users and dependent/related functions.
