We are seeking a uniquely qualifiedEngineering Technician I position to support Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme.

Position Description:

The Engineering Technician I will support the project task lead in Port Hueneme and will be responsible for conducting technician tasks as assigned.

Work location and telework:

The government work location is the Port Hueneme, CA and you may be required on base, supporting the customer up to 5 days a week. Some teleworking or work from the contractor's location may be possible with the customers' approval.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Be able to provide semi-professional technical support for engineers working in such areas as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement. Work pertains to electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment. These technicians are required to have some practical knowledge of science or engineering. Some positions may require a practical knowledge of mathematics or computer science. Included are workers who prepare design drawings and assist with the design, evaluation, and/or modification of machinery and equipment.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • High school/vocational school diploma or GED certificate
  • The Engineering Technician I performs simple routine tasks under close supervision or from detailed procedures. Work is checked in progress or on completion.
  • The Engineering Technician I will perform one or a combination of such typical duties as:
    • Assembling or installing equipment or parts requiring simple wiring, soldering, or connecting.
    • Performing simple or routine tasks or tests, such as tensile or hardness tests; operating and adjusting simple test equipment; and recording test data.
    • Gathering and maintaining specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc.; performing computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas; plotting data and drawing simple curves and graphs.

Preferred / Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Secret Clearance
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with Navy or DoD contracts

Travel Requirements:

  • Limited travel to the continental United States (primarily east and west coasts)
  • Possible overseas travel
