The Post Graduate Pharmacy Intern role is designed to develop a knowledge base and competency level in performing pharmacy functions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. In order to gain hands on experience, this individual will perform such functions, including but not limited to: interpret and process written and electronic prescriptions, accept verbal orders from practitioners and their agents, compound whenever possible, patient education, drug information, and all aspects of dispensing a prescription. The Post Graduate Pharmacy Intern assists the team to ensure that all patients/customers are assisted with their health care needs. Excellent customer service and attention to detail is a must. The expectation is that the Post Graduate Pharmacy Intern will seamlessly transition to the role of staff pharmacist upon licensure.

Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy Degree from accredited pharmacy school required.
  • Limited (Intern) Permit in the State of New York is required.
  • Eligible to sit for licensure exam(s)
  • Minimum two (2) years of retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of customer service experience required.
  • Experience assisting patients with basic medical needs preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint is required.
  • Detailed data entry experience preferred.
  • Experience with prescription software preferred.
  • Demonstrate ability to apply laws, principles and best practices of general pharmacy practice/operations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to collect and fully analyze various data, draw appropriate conclusions and form proper recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and develop relationships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to pro-actively identify problems, as well as recommend and/or implement effective solutions.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate workflow
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a changing and fast-paced environment.

Salary ranges are designed to be competitive with room for professional and financial growth. Individual compensation is based on several factors unique to each candidate, such as work experience, qualifications, and skills. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay.
