Position Summary
The Department of Communication & Journalism is seeking a motivated and professional student to assist with front office operations for the 2025-2026 academic year with a chance of renewal. You'll gain hands-on experience with administrative tasks, front-desk operations, AV operations and office organization, all while contributing to an exciting and student focused department. Duties include, but are not limited to: managing the main office and/or AV office, assisting visitors, students, faculty, and staff, filing and organizing documents/files, managing mail distribution, inventory of office supplies, copying and scanning, running daily errands to a variety of office locations on main campus, and other items around C&J, general support of faculty/staff/students within the department and miscellaneousduties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic computer skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Printer/copier experience
- Office work experience
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours fall/spring semesters
- Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress guidelines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting students, staff, faculty, and office environments in any capacity (tech support, event sign-ins, flyers, emails, etc.)
- Comfortable answering phones, greeting guests, or managing front-desk and AV office spaces.
- Familiarity with basic computer tasks such as typing, document formatting, using Adobe, Canva, and Microsoft Office.
- Understanding or willingness to learn camera equipment checkout processes and classroom technology troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail, eagerness to learn, ability to stay organized, and follow through with assigned tasks
- Strive for a positive, professional mindset.
- Be able to work at least four days a week. More days/hours are encouraged within the work-study guidelines.
Work-Study qualified individuals who can work in two to four-hour blocks of time.
