PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $104,000.00-$126,900.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $80,800.00 - $150,200.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance. We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan. Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU'LL MAKE:

As the Senior Financial Accountant at BECU, you'll play a key role in driving the financial health and integrity of our organization. Your expertise will directly impact how we analyze complex financial transactions and report financial data-ensuring accuracy, compliance, and smart decision-making. You'll collaborate across departments, optimize financial processes, and lead projects that simplify operations while strengthening internal controls.

In this role, you'll be at the heart of our financial reporting team, helping ensure BECU's continued success through your precision, innovation, and leadership in accounting practices.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to reside in Washington State. If you're within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Prepare and Analyze Financial Reports: Create detailed financial and regulatory reports, variance analyses, narratives, - ensuring they are complete, accurate, and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with teams throughout BECU to analyze financial transactions, resolve accounting challenges, and share best practices that improve efficiency and controls.

  • Review Contracts and Invoices: Analyze contracts, agreements, and invoices to ensure proper accounting treatment.

  • Leverage Data and Technology: Develop deep knowledge of our enterprise systems and data tools, allowing you to efficiently analyze and utilize data in your work.

  • Strengthen Internal Controls: Recommend and implement process improvements, control enhancements, and automation initiatives to streamline financial operations and minimize risks.

  • Act as a Systems Expert: Serve as the go-to functional expert for assigned reporting processes and data, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

  • Drive Process Enhancements: Lead or assist in the design, analysis, and implementation of new accounting or regulatory guidance to meet business needs and compliance standards.

  • Ensure GAAP Compliance: Research new accounting standards and ensure continuous compliance with evolving GAAP requirements.

  • Collaborate on Special Projects: Participate in cross-functional projects that expand your influence across the organization.

  • Document Procedures: Maintain and update thorough documentation of accounting processes and procedures for consistency and clarity.

  • Mentor and Support Others: Provide guidance and training to Accounting team members and staff, sharing your expertise to help others grow.

  • Additional Contributions: Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support BECU's financial goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or equivalent education/experience

  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • CPA or CMA certification, or actively pursuing CPA/CMA

  • Experience with financial system implementations or upgrades

  • Prior experience mentoring or training others within accounting teams

  • Knowledge of GAAP and related regulations

  • Organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

  • Verbal and written communication abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • High attention to detail and numerical accuracy
