This Special Education Advisor position with the Bureau of Special Education, Division of Monitoring and Improvement serves counties in Central Division region, specifically Intermediate Unit 15 area (Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry counties), and supports them in providing our state's students with a thorough and efficient education system. If you are well read on federal and state special education law, policy, procedures and guidelines; have a passion for supporting schools in providing services to students with disabilities; and have strong analytical and writing skills, this position is for you!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will use your expertise to provide advisory and consultative services to school districts and intermediate units in the planning, monitoring, improvement, and evaluation of special education programs and services in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Your work will ensure that Local Education Agencies (LEAs) are providing the best possible outcomes for special education learners in Pennsylvania. You will conduct monitoring visits, prepare monitoring reports, and negotiate, approve, and verify Corrective Action Plans (CAPs). Responsibilities also include investigating and following up on complaints and inquiries through fact findings, interviews, and on-site activities, as well as the provision of training and technical assistance. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Five years of professional experience in special education including two years as an administrator of a special education program; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes two years as an administrator of a special education program.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
