Position Title:HR Manager Job Category:Academic Staff Employment Type:Regular Job Profile:HR Manager Job Duties: Identifies, designs, implements, and monitors Human Resources and staff training programs consistent with strategic objectives and initiatives Directs and manages unit operational functions and/or staff Identifies, proposes, implements, and interprets employment policies and practices for stakeholders, and provides recommendations for changes Monitors programs and practices to ensure compliance with human resources laws, regulations, and institutional policies Serves as a subject matter expert to support unit managers' alignment of business needs and human resources strategy Key Job Responsibilities: Audits the unit budget and approves expenditures Assists with planning, implementation, and management of strategic initiatives for one or more human resources function Serves as an advisor and liaison to unit managers and staff providing organization information and interpretation of human resources policies and procedures Coordinates HR activities, such as recruitment, pay administration programs, new hire orientation, employee benefits, and health and safety plans, through managerial HR staff Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees Identifies needs and recommends improvements to leadership regarding HR matters such as workforce performance and competency gaps, organizational structures, compensation discrepancies and assists with the development of training plans and mitigation strategies as needed Implements, operationalizes, and monitors the use of policies and procedures to comply with laws, regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives Department: Human Resources Compensation: $75,000-$85,000 Required Qualifications: * Minimum seven years as an HR Generalist, Business Partner or Manager * Minimum two years managing direct reports Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with Workday * Knowledge of Employment Law Education: * Master's Degree Business, Human Resources, or equivalent Legal Notices and Important Information Employment will require a criminal background check in accordance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act.
