Job Title: Research Professional 5-Research Computing

Reports to: Regents Prof. Donald Truhlar

Appt: 100% Time, temporary appointment through 3/16/2026.

Working in the computational research group offices of Regents Prof. Donald Truhlar in Smith Hall

60% design and conduct experiments and analyze data in the field of computational theoretical chemistry

20% administration and maintenance of the full research group's servers, other hardware and serve as subject matter expert on group software.

10% Writing drafts of co-authored manuscripts for publication and/or presentation at professional meetings. Reviews relevant literature and selects pertinent procedures and techniques, and plans approaches to the problem.

10% Mentoring junior researchers in the group, attend and contribute to all group meetings and work collaboratively to support other researchers in the lab

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required: Advanced degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or related AND one or more years of research experience.

Preferred: Experience with theoretical computational chemistry and related simulation modeling. Scientific writing experience (research summaries, manuscripts for submission to
journals).

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $59,000 to $63,000 depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% temporary appointment through March 16, 2025
