THE POSITION

Bring your organizational and leadership skills to the Department of Human Services (DHS)! The Sexual Responsibility Treatment Program at Torrance State Hospital is looking for a highly organized Psychological Services Specialist, DHS to provide treatment to young men with sex offending histories. In this role, you will use your therapeutic experience to provide individual and group programming within an in-patient psychiatric hospital setting. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Psychological Services Specialist, you will be responsible for writing and monitoring comprehensive treatment plans for individuals who have a history of sexually offending. This will include completing sex-offense specific assessments and reports detailing the individual's treatment progress and risk of reoffending. A key duty of this role will be serving as a primary therapist to provide interventions that are specific to sexual offenses, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and psycho-education. You will be required to document service delivery and resident progress in reports that are sent to the Sex Offender Assessment Board and the court. You will also be required to testify at resident recommitment hearings.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Sunday - Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A master's degree in a behavioral science, counseling education, rehabilitation, human development or a closely related field.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
