Responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the facility's food and dietary services. This role ensures that all dietary requirements are met, contributes to menu planning, and assists in creating a welcoming environment in the dining facilities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or Equivalent required Associate's Degree Healthcare Management preferred Experience in food service management, dietary services, or a related field, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting 5-7 years required Experience in a supervisory or leadership role 2-3 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong leadership and supervisory skills to manage food service staff and ensure efficient operations. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and preparation practices. Familiarity with special dietary and nutritional requirements, especially in a healthcare setting (e.g., therapeutic diets, dietary restrictions). Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare staff, dietitians, and patients to meet dietary needs and resolve food-related concerns. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, patients, and visitors effectively.
SHIFT:
Essential Functions (Key Roles & Responsibilities)
Assist the Food Service Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the food service department, including food preparation, production, and distribution for patients, staff, and visitors. Supervise and train food service staff, ensuring they follow established guidelines and procedures for food safety, sanitation, and patient dietary requirements. Monitor and evaluate food quality, presentation, and portion control, ensuring that meals meet both nutritional standards and patient preferences. Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing menus based on dietary requirements, ensuring that meals are balanced and appropriate for patient's medical conditions (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, gluten-free). Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations, including maintaining cleanliness in food storage, preparation, and service areas. Oversee food inventory management, including ordering supplies, tracking stock levels, and ensuring that food products are stored properly to prevent spoilage or contamination.
