Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a System Administrator to work on our Computer Systems Engineering team. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Specific Manufacturing Capabilities (SMC) facility at the desert site with every Friday off.

You will oversee administration of laboratory computer software systems, e.g., human resources, property management, financial systems, procurement, engineering. Support needs of the programming staff, prioritize service requests, develop, and recommend solutions to system needs, and resolve conflicts and problems that occur between end users. Monitor and control system access and ensure system availability for process needs. You will report to the manager for the Computer Systems Engineering department.

Responsibilities Include:



  • Provides security system administration in assigned area of expertise.
  • Support assigned networks, multiple individual workstations, equipment and software maintenance and upgrades. Responsible for problem identification, mitigation, and resolution in server hardware, operating systems, and applications; and networking hardware and configuration.
  • Ensure system and data integrity by monitoring and evaluating system controls and assuring compliance with established Company access controls and computer security procedures. Evaluate complex system interface data on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly interval to ensure system processing functions correctly.
  • Responsible for ensuring all assigned activities are performed in a secure manner and in accordance with applicable laboratory excellence procedures, within safety authorizations, in accordance with security plans and requirements, in accordance with environmental permits and in full compliance with Laboratory, state, federal policies, procedures, directives and regulations.
  • Apply professional concepts in providing complex operational (i.e., production level) technical support and maintenance related to existing and emerging enterprise level information technology systems.
  • Responsible for system maintenance, web server application management, enterprise data storage administration, and multi-factor authentication processes. Exercise sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques to implement innovative solutions associated with enterprise system performance requirements.
  • Provide technical reviews and input related to these IT system performance requirements, system level, and security procedures.
  • Act as the liaison between functional subject matter experts and programming development to ensure thorough communication of requirements and functionality.
  • Responsible for software quality assurance and maintaining the appropriate quality training.
  • Provision new equipment in accordance with industry best practice, vendor recommendations, and organizational needs.
  • Provide technical leadership and review of less experienced IT technical staff and contribute to senior staff as the project/effort dictates.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:



  • Level 2: Bachelors degree in Information Systems or directly related degree and at least 2 years direct/relevant experience.
  • Level 3: Bachelors degree in Information Systems or directly related degree and at least 5 years direct/relevant experience.
  • Some travel may be required as needed.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain DoD 8140 (CWQP) compliance, for example: CompTIA Security+ certification or CISSP certification within 6 months.


Ideal Candidate will have:



  • Relevant experience in Systems Administration
  • Familiar with information technology virtualization (VM ware)
  • Enterprise backup and restoration practices
  • Networking Experience, Cico equipment is ideal
  • Familiarity with database management.


Job Information:



  • The pay range for this position is: Level 2 ($65,064 - $133,416) / Level 3 ($77,628 - $159,228). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.


Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, use hands to handle materials, manipulate tools, keyboard and type, reach with hands and arms, and operate job related equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
