About the Laboratory

Postdoctoral fellow positions are available in the laboratory of Douglas Wallace, PhD, MD and Deborah Murdock, PhD at the Center for Mitochondrial and Epigenomic Medicine (CMEM) at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. This research team is fully-funded in the biomedical field of mitochondrial medicine. Areas of emphasis include neuropsychiatric disorders (autism, Alzheimer and Parkinson disease), ophthalmology disorders (Leber hereditary optic neuropathy and glaucoma), connective tissue disorders (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome), chronic fatigue (chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis and long COVID), inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's Disease), cancer, sleep disorders, aging, evolutionary and population genetics, viral pathogenesis, and mitochondrial therapeutics (metabolic treatments and gene therapy-mitochondrial transplantation and AAV transduction). Research expertise being utilized includes molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, cell and stem cell biology, and mouse models of disease. The candidate will work closely with the other members of the research team.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project planning, recording, and evaluation of data.

  • Conduct independent scholarly research, developing new methods and protocols under the guidance of a mentor (principal investigator).

  • Acquire technical, lab management, and grant writing skills.

  • Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions, national presentations, and professional workshops.

  • Supervise junior lab members.

  • Assist with other research projects as needed.

  • Required: Doctorate

SALARY RANGE:

$20,800.00 - $110,400.00 Annually

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
