COMPANY PROFILE:

AgTexas Farm Credit Services serves and supports approximately 2,600 member/borrowers in areas of lending, insurance sales, appraisal, and/or leasing. Eleven office locations can be found throughout the Association's 43-county trade territory, and the association has an average loan volume of approximately $2.85 billion, with total assets equaling $3.2 billion. The lending portfolio consists of cotton, livestock, dairy, feed grains, real estate, and ag-related business loans. Additionally, the association territory provides diversity in production and mortgage loans as well as commodities financed. Without strong financial backing farmers and ranchers will not survive, and people will not have food to eat or clothes to wear. AgTexas provides reliable credit and crop insurance to our member-owners, so they can feed and clothe the world.

POSITION:

The Senior Appraiser position is located within AgTexas' North Texas territory, with a salary that is negotiable, depending upon experience. Does require frequent travel within the designated service area and possibly surrounding counties.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, agricultural economics, finance or a related field, or equivalent experience and at least five (5) years of experience in the area of real estate appraisal with emphasis on appraising agricultural producing properties or collateral evaluation. Ideal candidate will possess general knowledge of property and collateral evaluation methods. Additionally, general knowledge of real estate instruments and records. This position requires good skill in oral and written communication. State General Real Estate Appraiser certification is required.

JOB SCOPE AND PURPOSE:

Provides simple to moderately complex appraisals for agricultural properties and assists senior-level appraisal staff with evaluations of property on large and/or complex loans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:



  • Prepares valuations or appraisals in connection with loans secured by non-complex agricultural properties and assists with the development of valuations or appraisals of properties that may involve large and/or complex loans, specialized or highly improved properties, loans in litigation, foreclosure or bankruptcy and acquired properties.
  • Performs collateral evaluations in compliance with district and association collateral evaluation standards and procedures on properties and other collateral throughout the association's territory.


  • Maintains comparable sales data, current improvement cost data, and other resource information required to make accurate evaluations. Communicates findings regarding land and chattel property value trends to management.
  • Reviews content and analyzes fee evaluations utilized in the evaluation of properties and other collateral.
  • May review appraisals performed by outside fee appraisers to ensure compliance with USPAP and association collateral evaluation standards.
  • Prepares collateral evaluation reports and all related correspondence.
  • Identifies and attends professional educational courses, documents valuation assignments and work experience as required by TALCB.
  • Offers cost effective appraisals and related services.
  • Assists in monitoring the standards of conduct within the appraisal services area. Ensures that all policies, procedures and regulations are adhered to as required.



WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Frequent interaction with association departmental staff and management. Frequent interaction with association customers. Frequent interaction with area professionals including real estate agents, commercial bankers, and others who deal with the association in the normal course of business. Occasional interaction with Farm Credit Bank of Texas staff.
