Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Executive Chef and Food Service Supervisor, the Cook is responsible for preparing, presenting, and serving food to patients, staff, visitors, and the community, ensuring compliance with food safety and dietary standards.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation: Prepares daily menu items, specials, and catering orders, adjusting quantities based on census and demand.
Sanitation & Safety: Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen work areas and equipment (e.g., slicers, blenders, refrigerators).
Regulatory Compliance: Follows HACCP guidelines and all food handling, preparation, and service regulations.
Customer Service: Demonstrates a friendly attitude, responds to customer needs, and addresses concerns or shortages promptly.
Teamwork & Flexibility: Attends meetings and trainings; willingly adjusts schedule and duties to meet department needs.
Efficiency & Cost Awareness: Uses time and products efficiently, helping support department goals related to customer satisfaction and resource management.
Communication: Keeps supervisors informed of issues and works to support department goals and service quality.

High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Experience
Currently enrolled as a student pursuing a relevant degree or diploma in a healthcare-related field. 0-1 year required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong interest in the healthcare industry and a desire to gain practical experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff.
- Detail-oriented with good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
- Proficient in using basic computer software.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute as part of a healthcare team.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and privacy laws is an asset.
