Purpose of Position

The Business Relationship Manager (BRM) is a strategic role that sits between IT and the business units. The BRM is an advanced level, strategic business partner who is at ease both in business and technology. The BRM owns business relationships and serves as a single point of focus, working to converge functions such as IT, HR, finance, etc. and one or more lines of business or value streams. This is achieved by stimulating, surfacing, and shaping demand for capabilities and assets, in addition to ensuring that the potential business value from those capabilities and assets are captured, optimized, and recognized.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the account owner for business leaders and coach them on how to articulate their functionA's (i.e., people, process, technology, etc.) needs and requirements that will advance business performance.
  • Partner with business leadership and Lead BRM to plan new joint initiatives, evaluate proposals, and determine how they fit into business capability roadmaps and priorities.
  • Think strategically by identifying business function opportunities and the best suited position for the functionA's adoption within the business partner organization.
  • Oversee the business objectives of key initiatives, working as a liaison to business leaders, ensuring successful change management and adoption of new solutions.
  • Partner with the Lead BRM to ensure a well groomed initiative portfolio and facilitate prioritization of investments in key initiatives.
  • Champion awareness and influence perception of IT with the business to facilitate better partnership and value harvesting.
  • Partner with enterprise architecture to develop and maintain multi year business capability roadmaps.
  • May lead a team of Business Analysts that are experts in specific business areas.
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent industry experience.
Minimum Experience
  • 3 plus years of professional experience in business relationship management or comparable role.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships and influence decision makers as well as process and technology adoption.
  • Proactively understand functional business areas and how they interact/overlap with each other.
  • Experience modeling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques.
  • Extensive experience planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives.
  • Strong situational analysis and decision making abilities.
  • Strong Business Acumen.
  • Experience in defining and maturing business capability road maps.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and communicate. The employee may be required to stand, walk, and sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to view monitors, technical documents, and reference material. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
