Your role with us

Salem Health is seeking a compassionate and dynamic nurse manager to lead our Employee Health Department. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a skilled nurse leader, or someone early in their leadership career, to make a meaningful impact on the health, safety, and wellness of our workforce. You'll oversee a small, dedicated team and help shape a culture of care, safety, and regulatory excellence.

We're looking for a strong communicator who is both people-focused and process-driven; a leader who values empathy and warmth in caregiving, while upholding high standards of accountability and compliance. As the face of Employee Health for many new hires, the nurse manager should help set the tone for professionalism and care at Salem Health.

You'll be stepping into a stable and cohesive team, where workflows and processes have been thoughtfully established. This is an ideal role for a nurse ready to grow in a smaller department with big impact.

If you are looking to take the next step into leadership or continue growing as a leader in a supportive, structured, and mission-driven environment, this may be the ideal role for you.

What you'll do

Operational Leadership

  • Lead and manage the Employee Health team, including RNs, CMAs, medical office staff, and indirect collaboration with a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory agency guidelines (OSHA, CMS, etc.).
  • Develop and implement operational policies, programs, and best practices in support of employee wellness.
  • Partner with leadership to align departmental goals, continuous improvement efforts (LEAN), and emergency preparedness strategies.
  • Support budget development and resource allocation.

Clinical Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure regulatory requirements are consistently met, including documentation, immunization programs (e.g., flu, COVID), and surveillance of occupational exposure incidents.
  • Collaborate on clinical policy creation, updates, and compliance monitoring.
  • Use metrics and data to drive quality, performance, and employee health outcomes.

Employee Health Programs

  • Oversee the post-offer health assessment process, including screenings and job placement recommendations.
  • Manage "for cause" drug/alcohol testing and occupational health evaluations.
  • Lead efforts to promote employee wellness and infection control practices in collaboration with Infection Prevention and Workers' Compensation.

People Management

  • Hire, onboard, evaluate, and coach direct reports.
  • Model and promote LEAN practices, daily huddles, and continuous process improvement.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Current unencumbered licensure to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon, or eligibility for licensure.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as an RN in an acute care setting.

Additional Information

  • Two years of progressive management experience is preferred.
