Software Test Engineer - Mid-Level LOCATION: Lackland AFB, TX JOB STATUS: Full-time CLEARANCE: Top Secret/SCI CERTIFICATION: Must obtain the ISTQB CTFL certification within 6 months of hire. TRAVEL: 15% Our cybersecurity test team is searching for new members that can help us conduct system security analysis on systems and/or software to understand and identify vulnerabilities. We provide a number of opportunities to learn ranging from on-the-job training with other team members to formal courses in unique technology areas. We realize that no one will have all of these qualifications. We are looking for people that can bring a strong foundation in one of the listed areas and are motivated to learn the others. Position responsibilities can span from compliance testing to penetration testing, depending on skillset. Astrion has worked extensively with the Department of Defense executing a Technical Management and Advisory Service contract where it has earned a reputation for on-time delivery of high-quality products tailored to the needs of its clients. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 3 years of technical experience are required. Additional experience may be substituted for education.
- S. citizenship required. Must be able to maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- Five years of intensive and progressive experience in a computer-related field.
- A minimum of one year software testing for software / hardware applications or systems is required.
- Must have good writing/oral presentation skills.
- Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
- Good organization, decision making, and verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Current active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Working knowledge of the following: Linux, windows, VMware, the OSI network model, network traffic and analysis, enterprise network architecture, Intrusion Detection & Prevention Systems, firewalls, anti-virus tools, network traffic generation, Jira and Confluence.
- Programming or scripting skillset.
- Software Test experience.
- Understanding of AFIN & DODIN architecture.
- Proven ability as a self-starter and independently pursues continuous learning and development.
- Ability to independently collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and effective testing strategies. The selected candidate will also be responsible for analyzing defects, identifying areas for improvement, and contributing to the enhancement of overall product quality.
- Understands the Unified Platform (UP) program, the Joint Cyber Command and Control (JCC2) Program, and the Joint Cyber Access Program (JCAP)
- Understanding of the emerging DOD Joint Cyber-Warfighting Architecture JCWA program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare Developmental Test & Evaluation (DT&E) plans, test cases, and report according to established test methodologies and procedures.
- Perform developmental testing at the system, interoperability, and integration test levels on various systems and networks under the direction of a Senior Test Engineer.
- Participate in all phases of software and hardware development to include requirements development, risk assessments, and acceptance criteria development.
- Coordinate with customers, test engineers and range engineers to ensure the test infrastructure meets desired test objectives and data collection requirements.
- Actively communicate throughout the acquisition process to influence development of a testable capability or product.
- Perform as a technology subject matter expert and provide advice to customers.
- Compile and analyze test results data to determine conformity of the product or capability to the requirements.
- Document change requests/deficiencies of the product or capability as a result of test data analysis.
- Actively participate cooperatively in Agile team planning and test execution.
- Analyze software requirements and specifications to develop comprehensive testing plans.
- Collaborate with developers to integrate testing into the development process.
- Promote continuous improvement through knowledge sharing and best practice implementation.
- Maintain accurate records of testing activities, including results, metrics, and insights.
- Identify, document, and communicate defects and suggestions for improvement.
