Position Summary

The Salvation Army Northern Division Anoka 360 Life Center is "Doing the Most Good" by providing holistic, person-centered services for individuals and families. Services include food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing support, short and long-term case management, spiritual support, and connects to community partners.

The Social Services Manager provides supervision to social services staff and programs. In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations, the Manager delivers direct emergency assistance and long-term case management through the Family Homeless Prevention and Assistance Program (FHPAP) and Pathway of Hope (POH) initiative. POH focuses on empowering participants to overcome barriers, break the cycle of crisis, and achieve long-term stability.

Essential Functions (approximate time spent)



  • Program Oversight (45%) - Supervise social service programs (e.g., FHPAP, POH, emergency assistance, food shelf) and ensure operations are fiscally responsible and mission-aligned.
  • Direct Assistance (15%) - Provide emergency services and support (e.g., FHPAP, HeatShare, vouchers) to program participants.
  • Case Management (10%) - Deliver strength-based, person-centered case management using a holistic approach.
  • Data & Reporting (10%) - Maintain accurate case files and database records, report outcomes and successes internally.
  • Event Support (10%) - Assist with seasonal programs and special events as needed.
  • Participant Recruitment (5%) - Recruit eligible participants for POH and promote social services to clients and the broader community.
  • Outreach & Collaboration (5%) - Represent The Salvation Army and POH in internal and external efforts to support program goals.



Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. A combination of education and experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • If the degree is in social work, state board licensure is required.
  • Previous social services experience with increasing responsibility required.
  • Previous staff supervision highly preferred.
  • Experience conducting long-term case management preferred.
  • Must successfully pass all required background checks.
  • A valid driver's license, MVR clearance, and reliable transportation required.

Working Conditions



  • Primarily sedentary work, involving extended periods of sitting and computer use.
  • Must lift to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Professional setting, not eligible for a hybrid, remote-friendly work arrangement.
  • Requires clear and effective communication with colleagues, participants, and community members.



Supervisory Responsibilities



  • Supervise, mentor, and train Social Services employees and volunteers.
  • Provide input and make employment-related recommendations to the direct supervisor.



Driving/Travel Requirements



  • Must be able to travel locally using a personal vehicle or other reliable means to support program needs and outreach efforts.
  • Occasional travel outside the local area may be required but is rare.
