Job Summary

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Localization Leader to oversee our translation and localization efforts at Equinix. This role will be responsible for establishing and enforcing language standards, managing vendor relationships, and driving continuous improvement in our localization processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of localization strategies and governance, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Governance


  • Own and manage the language tiering model and scorecard

  • Periodically evaluate and update the language tiering as Equinix expands into new markets

  • Enforce enterprise-wide strategies, standards, and processes related to translation and localization

  • Serve as an escalation point for functional and regional teams to resolve translation-related issues


Standards


  • Establish and disseminate guidelines for translation tone and formality to vendors and internal reviewers

  • Train and support internal translation reviewers to ensure quality and consistency

  • Address concerns raised by customers, regional teams, or translation reviewers regarding translation quality

  • Own and distribute the decision framework to determine mandatory translations for assets and activities and the associated quality level

  • Collaborate with the business to identify content that must be translated across the end-to-end customer and employee experience by language tier


Vendor Relationships and Tooling


  • Determine approved translation and localization vendors and tools for enterprise-wide use

  • Drive implementation and ongoing support with vendors, setup, enhancements to self-service capabilities, and integration points

  • Act as the business owner for translation systems, functionality, and interfaces

  • Track enterprise-wide spending and seek cost efficiencies through vendor and process strategies


Processes


  • Collaborate with vendors and key stakeholders to establish a self-service translation capability

  • Create and deliver training for cross-functional stakeholders on the translation strategy, standards, vendors, tooling, and processes

  • Understand cross-functional and regional needs, driving continuous improvement in localization and translation approaches


Qualifications


  • 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Proven experience in localization, translation management, or a related field

  • Strong understanding of language tiering models and translation quality standards

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams

  • High emotional intelligence and ability to influence

  • Experience managing vendor relationships and driving process improvements

  • Familiarity with translation tools and technologies


The United States targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:
*San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $198,000 to $298,000 per year
*California (Non-SF/Bay Area), Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Washington state: $191,000 to $287,000 per year
*Colorado, Nevada, Rhode Island: $177,000 to $265,000 per year
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
