Minimum Experience: Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of general facilities experience preferably with supervision; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Valid Driver's License required.
Preferred Experience:
- At least six years of technical and supervisory experience in a multi-building environment performing facilities and grounds maintenance. Facilities engineer certification highly desirable.
- North Carolina State license in one of the skill trades (Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC).
- Licensed/Professional Engineer Certification
- Membership in the Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers (APPA)

Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position |
Under the direction of the Director of Facilities Operations, the Assistant Director (AD) of Facilities Operations is responsible for managing a comprehensive maintenance, renovation, and repair program for North Carolina A&T State University and all facilities-related activities as it relates to providing safe, secure, and efficient operations. As a member of the senior management team, the AD will also be responsible for setting and implementing key institutional priorities, such as addressing and promoting business and operational efficiency improvements. This individual will also manage the maintenance supervisors of the skilled trades, dispatch, steam plant operations, in-house project managers, and construction contractors to ensure the recruitment and retention of a quality workforce in the operational areas of the University. In addition, this position advises campus leaders with strategic and tactical planning by providing technical advice to the Director of Facilities Operations on long term planning issues for the University. |
