Job Description

We are currently hiring a full-time Staff Accountant.The ideal candidate must live in Boston, MA or surrounding areas.

The Staff Accountant ensures the financial information and customer AR balances of Boston Beer are properly and accurately processed, reconciled, and analyzed in a timely and accurate manner to allow for accurate internal and external financial reporting.

*A Hybrid position at Boston Beer requires that our coworkers reside within commuting distance to be onsite according to their teams' weekly schedule.

What You'll Brew:



Revenue Responsibilities:
* Process customer credits and billings for inter-wholesaler transactions
* Post debit or credit entries to address shipment discrepancies or damages
* Reconcile and post customer credits for product returns and deposit redemptions
* Work directly with wholesalers to confirm and reconcile deposit liability accounts
* Contribute to other month and quarter financial close processes as needed
* Assist with cash application
* Assist in ensuring that accounting procedures are in compliance with SOX 404 rules and GAAP revenue recognition




Financial Reporting Responsibilities:
* Support the reporting team in preparing the quarterly 10Q/10K reporting
* Assist with coordinating monthly close administration and leveraging AI to improve efficiency of close
* Support the team to ensure the company's financial reporting adheres to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations, particularly for publicly traded companies
* Eagerness to grow and develop in-depth technical accounting logic thinking




Fixed Asset Responsibilities:
* Process and reconcile monthly capital activity including depreciation, disposals, and monitor all capital projects under construction
* Assist in the semi-annual capital impairment review
* Engage in monthly discussion with engineering to ensure all activity at the brewery level is captured in the monthly close process
* Support the reporting team in maintaining audit support and ensuring compliance with all capital accounting regulations




Other Responsibilities:
* Assist in special projects and other assignments as needed (specifically improving development workflows with AI)
* Demonstrating continuous learning and adaptability
* Assist in maintaining efficient and timely receipt of all open audit requests
(Occasional travel may be required and is at the discretion of your manager based on the needs of your position)



What Ingredients You'll Bring:
Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of recent accounting experience
  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as v-lookup
  • Proven ability to handle multiple, detailed tasks with differing priorities and deadlines simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts
  • Ability to commute into our Boston Corporate office (3 days a week)


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Public accounting experience
  • SAP ERP experience
  • Leveraging AI-Powered Coding Assistants


Level: 7IC

At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the salary range is between 59,500 and 106,600. However, it's important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location. Additionally, this position qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance.
