Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose |
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Strategy, the Director of Graduate Enrollment will lead the University's efforts to recruit and shape new cohorts of graduate-level, exceptionally talented, and diverse students. In partnership with the academic deans and graduate program directors of Pacific's schools/colleges, the Director will develop, lead and manage the University's central graduate recruitment, admissions, operations and matriculation processes. Collaborates with leaders in Enrollment Marketing and Enrollment Technology & Analytics to build out and execute robust, customized marketing and communication strategies that increase awareness of Pacific programs and lead to graduate enrollment growth. The Director will lead a team charged with providing essential admission infrastructure for existing and new graduate programs, and recruiting top talent into graduate programs in Stockton, Sacramento and San Francisco.
The mission of the Division of Enrollment Strategy is to recruit and enroll talented and diverse cohorts of undergraduate and graduate students to the University of the Pacific who are most likely to persist, graduate, and become active alumni. |
Essential Functions |
- In partnership with the academic deans and the AVP of Enrollment Strategy, establish annual enrollment goals; responsible for achieving goal attainment in partnership with university administration, the academic units and the enrollment strategy division.
- Develop and implement comprehensive data-driven recruitment strategies for graduate programs across all three campuses in conjunction with academic schools/colleges which includes but is not limited to the following components: targeted & customized email communication, outreach, sponsorships, pipeline cultivation, use of the web and other emerging social and digital technologies, and internal and external promotional events.
- In partnership with Enrollment Marketing, work closely with administrative and academic departments to strategically market new programs to recruit new populations of graduate students.
- Monitor enrollment processes for efficiency and improvement, as well as manage budgetary dollars related to graduate enrollment.
- Lead by developing, supervising, and training a team of graduate enrollment staff that focus on the full graduate enrollment management cycle from prospect to admit to enrolled and retained.
- Responsible for the direct recruitment efforts for several key graduate programs.
- Leads communication strategy for graduate programs and manages the effective deployment of multi-channel communication plans.
- In partnership with Enrollment Technology & Analytics, assess and manage new technology projects associated with the graduate recruitment/admissions funnel; conducts annual reviews of application, communication and CRM tools.
- Partner with UOP International in order to strengthen international recruitment opportunities for a diverse graduate student population through Shorelight International. Oversee application processing of all UOPI applications.
- Provide leadership and project management to university stakeholders in the development of all new graduate programs at Pacific. Manage the implementation of admission and recruitment infrastructure to ensure successful enrollment.
- Represent the Office of Graduate Enrollment by serving on various University committees and participating in appropriate state and national professional organizations.
- Contribute to the development of marketing plans for graduate programs in conjunction with the Enrollment Marketing department and the graduate program directors.
- Manages relationships and contracts with vendors associated with graduate admission (WebAdmit, Verse, etc.).
- Manages the Graduate Enrollment fiscal budget in compliance with higher education recruitment and admission policies and practices, and applicable University, state and federal regulations.
- Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
- Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses and conferences, and attending training and/or courses as required by the Vice President for Enrollment Management.
- Contributes to the overall success of the Division of Enrollment Strategy and the University by performing related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Five (5) years of related work experience in higher education.
- Two (2) years of supervisory work experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Advanced Degree in a related field.
- Working knowledge of marketing principles, best practices, and techniques relevant to student recruitment.
- Extensive knowledge of enrollment management within the graduate education sector.
- Strong understanding of database systems such as Salesforce, Slate, Banner, or other types of database products utilized by institutions.
- Proven track record for making data-driven decisions to support the achievement of enrollment goals.
- Event planning and coordination experience.
- Ability to implement a recruitment plan and demonstrate commitment to diversity.
- Demonstrated ability in team building, leadership, supervision, management, selection, performance evaluation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving within the context of a college or university admission office.
- A demonstrated understanding of the importance of building and maintaining open communication with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
- Ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work performed during standard business hours. May be required to work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
Valid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record. |
Hiring Range |
$90,000 - $110,000; We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. |
