Mission Cancer + Blood, part of University of Iowa Health Care is searching for a Pharmacy Technician, Certified, to assure safe, aseptic, efficient, and cost-effective preparation of chemotherapy, biologic therapy, and supportive care medications for administration to patients following all applicable regulations. To work collaboratively with the Clinical Practice Manager and Pharmacist to maintain adequate and cost-effective inventory of drugs and supplies. Duties to Include: * Appropriately mix and label chemotherapy, biologic therapy, and supportivecare medications. * Unpacking daily drug order, verifying correctness, and refilling drugs into Lynxmachine. * Unpacking supply orders, verifying correctness, and delivering to correct stocklocation. * Stocking of mixing room, patient rooms, and other areas asneeded. * Assistance in transporting needed drugs betweenoffices. * Monitoring of investigational drug supplies andrecords. * Back-up maintenance of Lynxmachines. Work Schedule: * 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday for 3 consecutive weekends, and then off on the 4th weekend * Weekdays: PRN (as needed) when available Location:Des Moines, IA Mission, Cancer + Blood Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- Registered with the Pharmacy Board at the time of hire.
- National certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Must meet ongoing education requirements and maintain certification.
- High school diploma or the equivalent.
- Any combination of two years of post-high school experience and/or education in the natural sciences or satisfactory completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program.
Special Qualifications: * Ability to calculate ratios & proportions for pharmaceutical needs as demonstrated by a work sample. Desired Qualifications: * Ability to perform ratio/proportion equations * Knowledge of insurance and prior authorization requirements for coverage of medications * Experience working in team environment * Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to focus and prioritize tasks * Knowledge of windows-based computer programs * Experience working in environment requiring accuracy * Excellent customer service skills both over the phone and in person * Previous work in oncology setting preferred * Specialty Pharmacy experience preferred.
