Launch Enterprise SE&I 2 Propulsion Engineer

Location: [El Segundo Ca.

Clearance: Active DoD Secret (TS/SCI eligible preferred)

Salary: 130,000 to 160,000

Astrion has an exciting opportunity in support of the U.S. Space Force Launch Enterprise SE&I 2 contract-the Space Force's flagship systems engineering support vehicle for launch. Under this program, engineers act as trusted advisors-bridging government, Aerospace Corp, and industry partners-to ensure launch vehicle propulsion systems are designed, tested, verified, and flown successfully.

This mid-level engineering position will focus on launch system technologies related to rocket propulsion, with responsibilities spanning system design, data analysis, technical documentation, and operational support to guarantee mission success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support customer acquisition functions: requirements development, RFPs, and cost/technical/schedule/performance reporting.

  • Perform systems engineering activities including requirements definition, design reviews, test reviews, risk management, pedigree, hardware acceptance, verification, operations, anomaly resolution, and post-flight propulsion system analysis.

  • Plan, coordinate, and brief Engineer Review Boards, program reviews, and other technical meetings.

  • Conduct technical and engineering data management, including data mining, reporting, and analysis.

  • Deliver training and certification support, including course development, peer review, and mentoring.

  • Collaborate with USAF System Program Offices, Aerospace Corp, Launch Vehicle Contractors (LVCs), subcontractors, launch sites, and DCMA.

  • Prepare written evaluations, technical reports, and briefings for senior leadership.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline required; Master's preferred.

  • 10+ years of aerospace engineering experience with focus on propulsion.

  • Expertise in solid and/or liquid propulsion design, test, procedures, and anomaly resolution.

  • Proven experience with risk assessments and development of actionable mitigation plans.

  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering across the full lifecycle-from requirements development to post-flight reporting.

  • Direct experience supporting Space Force, NASA, NRO, LVCs, subcontractors, and Aerospace Corp.

  • Skilled in knowledge capture, process definition, training, and technical documentation.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to brief senior stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and engineering IT systems (Jira, Confluence).

  • Active DoD Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred.
