Job Description:

Microchip's Data Center Solutions Business Unit (DCS) offers industry leading performance, reliability, and security for Storage Controllers, PCIe Switches, NVME Controllers and smart attached memory. As an Associate Fellow- SoC design, you will provide micro-architecture leadership in the highly successful Enterprise Flash Controller product line. These complex 300M gate+ integrated silicon devices enable top tier data centers and OEMs in next generation storage, data protection, and accelerator market segments.

As an Associate Fellow in the Microchip Data Center Solutions group, you will be working closely with the architecture team to develop the micro-architecture for programmable Flash sub-system. Throughout you will work beside experienced engineers and be exposed to Microchip's Best-In-Class engineering practices. Working side-by-side with some of the brightest minds and most innovative people in the industry, you will be given an opportunity to work in a team where your contributions matter.

The candidate must have a background in SoC design pertains to Enterprise Flash Controllers, switching and memory attachment and who can work closely with internal and external customers and the engineering teams to support the the current generation as well as next generation Enterprise Flash Controller products. The candidate must be able to thrive in high pressure situations, possess strong debug skills, and be able to drive engineering teams to take the right actions, know when to escalate and seek guidance and have a passion for investigative problem solving.

Responsibilities:

Your job responsibility as an Associate Fellow would include:

  • Provide technical leadership through all phases of silicon ASIC development
  • Develop micro-architecture for sub-systems primarily focused on Flashtec products architecture.
  • Evaluate and provide recommendations for technology, IP, and vendor selection.
  • Support design and verification activities in pre and post silicon development phases to ensure features meet the architectural requirements.
  • Staying current on the latest SOC trends and innovations and incorporating them into design flows.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or Computer engineering (Master's degree preferred)
  • 15+ years of relevant industry experience in ASIC development, computer system design, systems engineering.
  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Teamwork and time management skills, setting direction, the ability to work under pressure and the desire to excel in a competitive environment
  • Experience with all aspects of the SoC/ASIC design, verification, and implementation flow
  • Proven track record of successful design of silicon IP and SoCs
  • Ability to develop detailed micro-architectural specs
  • Participation in relevant standards bodies and representing MCHP in the industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PCIe based Enterprise Flash Controller design
  • Experience in leading the Micro-architecture and development of programmable Flash controller sub systems
  • Experience with ARM, RISC-V and/or MIPS CPUs is an asset
  • Experience with PCIe, DDR, and ONFI/Toggle NAND is desired
  • Experience with on-chip interconnect and cache coherency
  • Experience in risk assessment and management throughout the development cycle.

Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in California, is $150,000 - $260,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
