Job Summary Drives diesel powered tractor trailer combination to transport and deliver wood shavings to turkey farms. |
Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities |
* Conducts pre and post trip inspections to determine the trucks condition and ensure that everything is in proper running order * Delivers shavings to turkey farms daily in a safe and efficient manner * Backs tractor trailer into turkey farms and loading areas * Maintains a good driving record * Assists other workers in the department by helping to load and unload trucks * Maintains ability to adjust to errors and complaints * Follows instructions daily * Maintains updated and legal CDL * Follows company policies * Uses and applies common sense to handle certain situations * Resolves problems which occur on turkey farms when supervision is not available * Performs other duties as assigned |
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities |
* Valid North Carolina Class A CDL * Department of Transportation Certified Medical Certificate * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence. * Ability to operate a tractor-trailer truck in tight places with low visibility * Ability to make decisions on backing, turning, entering and exiting farms. * Ability to operate trucks on narrow, dimly-lighted roads |
Education & Experience |
* Class A Commercial Driver's License and at least one year experience * Requires specialized skills that are normally learned through combinations of directly relevant vocational training and job experience. |
Physical Demands |
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. |
