Summary:

The Director of Revenue Cycle Technology and Automation is a key leadership role within the Revenue Cycle department, reporting directly to the Vice President of Revenue Cycle. This position leads the strategy, implementation, and continuous improvement of technology and automation initiatives across the revenue cycle, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency and financial performance across a large, multi-state academic medical center and multi-specialty medical group using the Epic healthcare system.

Serving as the primary liaison between Revenue Cycle and IT, the Director ensures alignment of technology solutions with operational needs, compliance standards, and enterprise digital strategies.

Responsibilities:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Lead the evaluation, deployment, and optimization of revenue cycle technology and automation solutions, including robotic process automation (RPA), AI/ML tools, and workflow automation, with a primary focus on Epic revenue cycle modules.
  • Oversee configuration, integration, and enhancement of Epic systems (including Prelude, Resolute, Cadence, and other revenue cycle components) to streamline patient access, billing, coding, claims management, and collections.
  • Collaborate closely with IT and vendor partners to prioritize and manage system upgrades, patches, and troubleshooting related to revenue cycle technology.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives that leverage automation and technology to reduce manual processes, improve clean claim rates, accelerate cash flow, and minimize denials.
  • Develop and maintain metrics and dashboards to monitor the impact of technology investments and process improvements on revenue cycle performance.
  • Facilitate change management, training, and communication efforts to ensure successful adoption of new systems and automation tools.
  • Ensure all technology solutions comply with HIPAA, CMS, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the trusted liaison bridging Revenue Cycle operational leadership and IT teams to translate business needs into technical requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Administration, Information Technology, Business, or related field;Master'sdegree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations with at least 3 years in a leadership role focused on technology and automation.
  • Deep expertise with the Epic healthcare system revenue cycle modules (Prelude, Resolute, Cadence, etc.) in a large multi-hospital and multi-specialty practice environment.
  • Proven successleadingautomation initiatives such as RPA and AI/ML within healthcare revenue cycle functions.
  • Strong knowledge of payer rules, regulatory compliance, and healthcare billing operations.
  • Excellent leadership, project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in academic medical centers or large integrated health systems.
  • Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, PMP, HFMA CRCR, or CHFP a plus
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR) and data exchange strategies.

Working Conditions:
