Position Summary: The Preventative Maintenance Technician I will be responsible for general machine preventative maintenance in a modern industrial manufacturing facility. The Preventative Maintenance Technician I is an entry-level position that draws on prior industrial maintenance experience. They will work from drawings, diagrams, technical manuals, schematics, and written and verbal instructions to perform maintenance tasks as required. They must have basic knowledge of most types of hand tools and meters and experience following written and oral directions. The Preventative Maintenance Technician I will work both independently and in a team environment, and will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operators, and other internal team members.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Under supervision, utilize SIG preventative maintenance procedures to perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.
  • Complete required daily paperwork, document parts, and material usage.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Assist with manufacturing production equipment repairs.
  • Complete required daily paperwork, document parts, and material usage.
  • Perform basic plumbing tasks on machinery and coolant delivery systems, plumb pneumatic lines, and fabricate air hoses for machinery.
  • Rebuild pneumatic and electrical liquid and air pumps. Run and maintain coolant evaporation systems.
  • Maintain used oil and non-hazardous waste collection. Work with EHS for identification and storage of hazardous waste.
  • Perform annual conveyor maintenance; remove, clean, and adjust conveyor belt assemblies. Inspect bearings, shafts, chains, and paddles for wear. Perform adjustments and lubrication.
  • Perform scheduled collector maintenance on dust collector, wet collector, and mist collector units. Clean the units, empty collection containers, change pre-filter and filters. Inspect flow meters and fire prevention systems if equipped.
  • Complete filter and coolant changes, when needed or at assigned intervals. Ensure grease cartridges are changed when required, to ensure equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Ensure lubricant dispensers are full and available for operators to fill machines. Ensure all labels on machines match manufacturer specifications and oils to be used.
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement projects and tasks.
  • Travel to all of SIG SAUER facilities.
  • Participate in 5s workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Education/Experience & Skills:



  • High School diploma or equivalent. Certification in technical maintenance field preferred. ASE certification, trade apprenticeship, or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years' experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Possess general troubleshooting knowledge and experience including electrical and electronics, electro-mechanical assemblies, and hydraulic and pneumatic repairs.
  • Possess basic plumbing, pneumatics, and mechanical knowledge. Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Help in other parts of the team regularly, work with and relay information to other departments regularly.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously in order to meet the needs of the manufacturing environment.
  • Communicate effectively to supervision regarding problems and corrective action.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.


Working Conditions:



  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
  • Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
  • Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
  • The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
  • Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
