Overview

SNF is a specialty chemical group whose products, water-soluble polymers, contribute to treating, recycling, preserving water, saving energy, and reducing carbon footprint. A pioneer in soft chemistry, SNF has long been present on all continents, employing 8,150 people, including more than 2,300 in the USA. Innovation and movement toward a cleaner, less carbon-intensive world accelerates SNF's growth.

This role requires a highly skilled pipefitter and welder with proven experience in industrial environments, including classified hazardous areas. The primary responsibilities include fabrication, assembly, installation, and maintenance of piping systems used to transport chemicals, steam, compressed air, and other industrial process media. The ideal candidate will be proficient in multiple welding processes-such as TIG, MIG, and stick welding-and demonstrate the ability to accurately interpret piping isometrics, P&IDs, and welding blueprints. Strict adherence to safety protocols, particularly when working in hazardous locations, as well as compliance with mechanical integrity requirements and applicable regulatory standards, is essential to success in this position.

Responsibilities

  1. Fit, fabricate, and weld piping systems, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy piping.
  2. Interpret piping schematics, P&IDs, and weld symbols for fabrication and installation tasks.
  3. Perform welds in accordance with ASME and site welding procedures, and qualify to applicable standards (e.g., 6G pipe test).
  4. Install and maintain pipe supports, valves, gaskets, and associated piping components.
  5. Conduct work in hazardous (classified) areas in compliance with applicable safety and regulatory requirements (e.g., NEC, OSHA, API).
  6. Use hot work permitting and gas monitoring procedures before performing welding or cutting.
  7. Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to minimize system downtime during pipe repair or modification.
  8. Inspect finished welds and joints for structural integrity and leak-tightness.
  9. Maintain tools and equipment in safe and functional condition.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist with mechanical work outside of welding and fitting as needed.
  2. Participate in continuous improvement programs.
  3. Mentor junior pipefitters or apprentices on best practices and safety.

  5. Perform other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
