PURPOSE

This role is for a Senior Security Engineer with deep expertise in Security Automation and Reporting to join our cybersecurity team. This person plays a critical role in driving automation and visibility across our security operations functions, including incident response, SIEM, SOAR, vulnerability management, and cyber asset management. This role will play a key part in scaling our detection and response capabilities through Python and PowerShell scripting, SOAR orchestration, and Power BI dashboards that present actionable insights.

The ideal candidate will bring technical depth in automation, hands-on experience with security platforms, and the ability to work cross-functionally with SOC, IT, and engineering teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Lead the design and implementation of security automation workflows using SOAR platforms and scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell.
  • Develop and manage interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI to communicate security operations metrics, automation effectiveness, and incident response trends to technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Manage and optimize the SOAR platform, ensuring integrations with SIEM, EDR, firewalls, email security, threat intel feeds, and other systems are functioning reliably.
  • Collaborate with SOC and IR teams to identify repetitive or time-consuming tasks and develop automated solutions that improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain playbooks for common incidents such as phishing, malware alerts, user access reviews, and threat intelligence enrichment.
  • Mentor and guide junior automation engineers and analysts in scripting, SOAR usage, and secure development practices.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain automation workflows and platform health, ensuring timely updates, scalability, and auditability.
  • Document automation processes, playbooks, scripts, dashboards, and configurations to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and compliance.
  • Stay current with evolving cybersecurity threats, tools, and best practices to continuously improve automation and reporting capabilities.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.




  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity with at least 3 years focused on security automation.
  • Strong scripting and automation development skills in Python and PowerShell.
  • Proven experience managing and developing content for SOAR platforms such as Palo Alto Cortex XSOAR, Splunk SOAR, IBM Resilient, or Swimlane.
  • Hands-on experience building security-focused reports and dashboards in Power BI.
  • Solid understanding of security operations, incident response, threat intelligence, and SIEM workflows.
  • Experience with API integrations, RESTful services, and handling data from security tools (e.g., EDR, SIEM, firewalls, email security).
  • Familiarity with common attack vectors, MITRE ATT&CK, and response procedures.
  • Experience with version control tools like Git and infrastructure-as-code tools (optional but preferred).


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and securing cloud-native workloads.
  • Prior experience in leading or mentoring a small team of engineers or analysts.
  • Certifications such as GIAC GMON, GCIA, GCSA, or platform-specific certifications for SOAR or Power BI

In addition to the base wage listed, this position is also eligible to earn an annual bonus subject to changes in plan design and documents and in accordance with applicable law.
