A Day in the Life of a Senior Energy Engineer at Hanson

Here's a snapshot of what you would do in this role:

  • Lead and support energy-related projects including Energy Roadmaps, Energy Audits and Assessments, Carbon Studies, and Retro-Commissioning.
  • Assist Business Development Manager with customer relationships and business development in energy, sustainability, and resiliency markets.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for energy reduction and decarbonization efforts.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and vendors to execute energy projects.
  • Lead meetings and create presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current on energy regulations and technologies, applying innovative solutions to meet compliance and performance goals.
  • Track project performance and provide regular updates to clients and senior management.
  • Support Hanson Project Managers with schedule, budget, billing, and earned value processes.
  • Support Hanson Discipline Manager with the supervision and empowerment technical personnel to meet HR standards, foster resource redundancy, and ensure consistent performance.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops on energy management strategies.
  • Author technical articles or present at industry conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

What We're Looking For

We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:

Skills:

  • Strong client engagement capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple energy projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, analysis, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
  • Proficiency in energy modeling, cost savings calculations, and utility/government rebate programs.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), including GUIs and programming logic.
  • Understanding of energy transition technologies such as wind, solar, and microgrids.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Discretion with sensitive and confidential information.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in engineering focused on energy demand reduction, sustainability, or decarbonization.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
  • Supervisory experience with technical personnel and project teams preferred.
  • Experience in program or project management focused on energy demand reduction, sustainability, or decarbonization preferred.
  • Experience with earned value methodology and project financial tracking preferred
  • Preferred certifications include Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Energy Management Professional (EMP), or other relevant certification.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $160,000, dependent upon candidate experience.
