Position Summary

The Translational Neurobiology of Development (TrND) Lab is seeking an organized, detail-oriented person to assist in a molecular neuroscience laboratory studying genetic mouse models related to autism spectrum disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Applicants should be highly motivated and possess strong problem-solving and communication skills. This is an excellent position for recent college graduates who are considering graduate school in neuroscience or medical school. Previous assistants in this laboratory have each been able to publish one or more paper and have been successful graduate or professional school applicants.

Responsibilities



  • Maintains mouse colonies, including husbandry, procedures, genotyping, and database management 30%.
  • Performs mouse behavioral, molecular genetic, microscopy and biochemical techniques to produce reliable and precise data to support ongoing research projects 30%.
  • Conducts literature searches, summarizing research literature, assisting with manuscript preparation and grant applications 10%.
  • Prepares the laboratory for experiments, including carefully preparing solutions, organizing chemical supplies, and ordering reagents 10%.
  • Manages and coordinates lab meeting schedules 10%.
  • Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested 10%.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience with molecular biology, molecular genetics, mouse handling, and microscopy strongly preferred.


Other Requirements



  • Must successfully complete all online systems training requirements.
  • At least 1 year of relevant molecular research experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs.
