Responsibilities

  • Selects, Positions, and aligns dies in machine ram and bed.
  • Understand program format, work from operational data defining and coding tooling, fixturing and machine arrangements.
  • Arrange, mount and secure tooling.
  • Mount, align and secure holding fixtures, or locate, support and secure work piece in absence of fixturing.
  • Set stops, calibrate fixturing to appropriate reference points.
  • Manually cycle machine through operation sequence to check fixture and work positions, tooling, clearance, speeds, feeds, etc.
  • Adjust machine or console to correct deviations from program specifications. Recognize, report and correct errors.
  • Recommend tooling applications and operational sequence to assist in developing practical programming for new and unusual machining requirements.
  • May set-up for and instruct machine operators of a lower classification, diagnose operating difficulties and make adjustments.
  • Work from detailed and involved part drawings and specifications. Use a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes' dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
  • Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Sets up single spindle manual and automatic drill press and tapping machine for secondary operations as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Having manufacturing experience is required.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Experience with using G-code.
  • Experience with operating a CNC Machine.
  • Ability to understand work orders and follow instructions.
  • Ability to understand and follow at MEC safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to left up to 50 lbs at a time. This position involves a lot of bending, twisting and lifting.
