BlueHalo, an AV company, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated junior level Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and deployment of the MAST Surrogate Missile System, a cutting-edge capability developed by our Directed Energy/Kinetic Effectors (DEKE) Group. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, hands-on experience with CAD tools like SolidWorks, and a desire to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment on mission-critical defense technology.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a premier defense program through mechanical design, hardware development, and field integration.

Key Responsibilities




  • Develop 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks to support missile system component design



  • Assist in testing and troubleshooting missile prototypes to resolve mechanical performance issues



  • Validate Bill of Materials (BOMs) for hardware builds and subassemblies



  • Perform hands-on integration and testing of mechanical systems in lab and field environments



  • Work closely with cross-functional engineering and program teams to meet technical and schedule objectives



  • Support travel (10-25%) to remote test sites for field integration and system testing




Required Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field



  • 0-5 years of relevant engineering experience



  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance



  • Strong understanding of core mechanical engineering principles



  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software



  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% and work in field environments (including walking 1+ mile on uneven terrain and lifting up to 50 lbs.)



  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills



  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-focused environment




Preferred:




  • Background in missile systems, aerospace, or mechanical design



  • Experience working in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments



  • Field testing experience at weapon or missile system test ranges



  • Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM or similar design data management tools
