Under general supervision of the Engineering Services Supervisor, plan, design, and oversee engineering of the campus telecommunications and multimedia infrastructure. This position is part of Network Services & Engineering within the Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) group of Information & Educational Technology (IET) department. Responsibilities include working independently or in conjunction with the campus Design and Construction Management department, serving as the project manager for major campus telecommunications and multimedia projects and providing consulting services directly to campus clients. Also, oversee work performed by contract consulting/engineering rms and installation contractors, provide technical assistance and support to other EIS and IET units on existing network and AV infrastructure. Contribute to the development of and documentation of engineering standards and procedures.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Experience planning, designing, engineering, and installing telecommunications and multimedia infrastructure including Outside Plant, structured cabling, and voice/data networking equipment.
- Experience planning, estimating, budgeting, and managing multiple telecommunications and AV projects of varying complexity and scope.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, specications, and construction drawings.
- Knowledge of EIA/TIA and BICSI standards, National Fire Protection Code including the National Electric Code, grounding, bonding, power, and protection of telecommunications plant and equipment.
- Oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical staff, faculty, students and other stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certication
- Experience with Microsoft Project or other project management software. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Visio.
- Organizational skills to determine priorities, delegate responsibilities, exercise independent judgment, and take appropriate action to resolve problems.

Department Overview
The mission of Information and Educational Technology (IET) is to create and support an information technology environment that enhances the ability of the UC Davis community to teach, do research and provide public service. In support of the University's mission, IET delivers an infrastructure of technological services appropriate to the requirements of the campus community. Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS), a department within IET, is responsible for the development and delivery of voice, data, and video services for a campus of 40,000 faculty, students, and staff. Network Services & Engineering is responsible for the long-range planning, design, engineering, and technical advancement of the campus communications infrastructure including Outside Plant, structured cabling and network equipment installation. NSE manages the communications system design guidelines and specications, estimating, planning, inspection, and installation services for capital construction projects, major building renovations, and audio-visual design for General Assignment Classrooms (GAC).

Work Environment
UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Travel
Travel required regularly to multiple sites across the campus as well as off-campus locations throughout the Sacramento Valley, San Joaquin Valley, and other satellite sites. Travel is typically conducted in University-provided vehicles, which may include sedans, vans, or pickup trucks.
