MTSI is seeking a dynamic and experienced
Systems Engineering Manager
to lead the engineering efforts of an
advanced air platform program
. In this role, you will oversee the design, integration, and execution of complex systems engineering activities while fostering collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will possess technical leadership capabilities, systems engineering expertise, and a strong commitment to delivering mission-critical solutions for national defense.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership:
- Serve as the engineering lead for system development, ensuring alignment with program goals and customer requirements.
- Lead systems engineering efforts across requirements analysis, design, integration, testing, and verification phases for advanced air platforms.
- Program Management Support:
- Collaborate with program leadership and stakeholders to develop strategies, define priorities, and ensure timely delivery of program milestones.
- Support cost estimation, technical risk management, and resource planning for systems engineering activities.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Supervise and mentor systems engineering team members, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Provide guidance on systems engineering best practices, methodologies, and tools tailored to program goals.
- Requirements Management:
- Oversee requirements capture, traceability, and validation, ensuring designs meet DoD specifications and mission objectives.
- Manage system-level requirements documentation using tools such as DOORS or JIRA.
- System Design and Integration:
- Direct the development of system architectures, including hardware, software, and data flow integration for mission-critical subsystems.
- Ensure seamless interoperability across subsystems such as avionics, sensors, propulsion, and communications.
- Testing and Validation Oversight:
- Lead test planning, system validation, and verification activities in laboratory and operational environments.
- Approve test results and ensure systems meet all technical requirements and performance metrics.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Interface with customers, program managers, and technical teams to communicate system design progress, risks, and solutions.
- Develop and present technical briefs, reports, and proposals to stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Compliance and Standardization:
- Ensure all systems align with DoD standards, including MIL-STD specifications, RMF (Risk Management Framework), and cybersecurity guidelines.
- Maintain adherence to MTSI and customer-specific processes throughout the program lifecycle.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
- 12+ years of experience in systems engineering, with at least 8 years of leadership experience leading technical teams or systems integration efforts.
- Deep expertise in systems engineering tools and methodologies, including MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) practices and tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or Enterprise Architect.
- Experience managing system development lifecycles, including requirements analysis, design, testing, and validation.
- Strong familiarity with advanced air platform systems, including avionics, sensors, propulsion, and communications subsystems.
- Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams under tight timelines, delivering mission-critical solutions.
- Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI.

- 10+ years of leadership experience leading technical teams or systems integration efforts.
- Certifications that validate proficiency in systems engineering and technical leadership:
- INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP): Demonstrates advanced systems engineering expertise.
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM): Validates team leadership within Agile frameworks, applicable for technical teams.
- DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) Certification: Expertise in building defense-specific system architectures.
- Lean Six Sigma Certification: Process improvement expertise tailored to resource efficiency.
- CompTIA Security+ or CISSP: Cybersecurity certifications relevant to defense applications.
- PMP (Project Management Professional): For candidates involved in technical project management and stakeholder coordination.
