ASPHALT TECHNICAL MANAGER

Knife River is looking to add an Asphalt Technical Manager to our team!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Works for Asphalt GM
2. Manages quality for all plants under GM
3. Works closely with plant maintenance
4. Works closely with Aggregates
5. Works closely with Construction lay down
6. Works closely with QC department
7. Helps ensure accountability exists
8. Takes the lead on complex spec reviews
9. Takes lead in asphalt mix design submittals
10. Trains asphalt sales
11. Assists Construction group
12. Owns mix designs
13. Leads in asphalt mix design development
14. Works closely with QC and provides direction
15. Reviews mix design progress through stages and directs QC on next steps

iii. QC techs do the actual testing, TMS interprets and makes decisions

1. As always, there would be good communication and collaboration between departments
2. Reviews daily asphalt test results
3. Adjusts plant settings as needed
4. QC department can assist with this as needed
5. Recommend JMF adjustments as needed
6. Provide technical expertise to internal customers
7. Provide technical expertise to external customers
8. Trains asphalt sales, Construction estimators, and Construction laydown to do the same

Minimum Qualifications:

• Certifications: ODOT CAT I, CAT II and ODOT CMDT or have the ability to obtain these certifications.
• Several years of customer service experience in this field or a related field.
• Strong technical knowledge and ability to explain complex solutions.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Project management and leadership skills.
