Job Overview

Advantest is looking for a TCAT Mechanical Design Engineer, for our San Jose, California office, to support turn-key test cell solutions deployment and ramp-up activities, to be delivered primarily to customers in the semiconductor design/development and manufacturing ecosystems.

This person will work with both local and remote Advantest and Customer teams and will deliver solutions on time, while exceeding customer expectations. Working and collaborating with different business units, namely Device Integration (DI), AIS (Socket and Loadboard Design Team), ATS (SLT Team), Applications (SOC) and downstream SATs is expected.

Responsibilities Include

  • Assist with mechanical design support, including 3D part and assembly modeling, part and assembly drawing generation.
  • Assist with planning and executing DOEs.
  • Prepare and present technical presentations of design concepts, design reviews, and DOE results.
  • Assist with the planning and executing of design validation and product qualification activities. This includes hands-on activities such as building and testing prototypes.
  • Assist with executing FEA in CAD such as deflection, stress, thermal, and flow analysis.
  • Responsible for coordinating on-site deployment and bring-up of both established and NPI Advantest test cell turn-key solutions at engineering and/or HVM Customer sites, for all insertions: wafer sort, failure analysis, final, bench-top and system level test. Responsible for leading and coordinating on-site test cell subsystems (sockets, probe cards, loadboard, probers, handler, ATE/SLT tester, etc.) troubleshooting, with pertinent Advantest Teams' support, to reach the goal of timely bringing a test cell online and into production for the first time, or, back online, after a failure, if/when a multi-disciplinary test cell domain expertise is required
  • Same as the requirements above, for mixed turn-key test cell solutions, featuring third-party subsystems, requiring support and collaboration from Advantest partners
  • With the support of relevant Advantest Teams, act as primary on-site turn-key test cell solution point of contact, managing all the bring-up and troubleshooting aspects, making Advantest a one-stop shop test cell solution provider, from the Customer's perspective
  • Systematically convey learnings and new requirements from test cell deployment and troubleshooting activities into the respective pertinent Advantest Team(s), to address issues and/or further improve and/or expand Advantest test cell solution capabilities
  • Coordinate and/or participate in person or remotely, based on needs, in Customer test cell escalations, if/as required, if/when a multi-disciplinary test cell domain expertise is required, and dependencies prevent one Advantest Team alone from resolving a specific test cell issue
  • Identify unaddressed and strategic, high-value test cell feature set, to potentially add to Advantest's test cell solution portfolio
  • Interacts with all Advantest Teams, FUs and BUs, which provide the contributing products and services that make up the Advantest test cell ecosystem
  • Effectively and timely communicates with all Advantest Teams, FUs and BUs, as he/she drives turn-key solutions, to keep all stakeholders up to date, in an organized and structured fashion (Teams/SharePoint/Jira)
