Job Summary: The Spanish Interpreter will provide high-quality interpretation and limited translation services in support of HACC's Workforce Development programs. This role ensures that Spanish-speaking students, clients, and instructors can communicate effectively during workforce training sessions, meetings, and related events. The interpreter will play an important part in supporting equitable access to education, fostering engagement, and ensuring that all participants can fully benefit from the programs offered.

Work will be year-round, with hours scheduled based on program needs and class schedules.

Minimum Qualifications:

H.S. Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year of direct translation/interpreting, preferably in an educational or workforce training environment. Must have fluency in both Spanish and English (oral and written) required.

Licensing Requirements: Valid driver's license required.

Hiring Range: $25/hour

Preferred Qualifications:

- Certification in interpretation (e.g., ATA, CCHI, or other relevant credential).
- Proven experience in interpretation and/or translation, preferably in an educational, adult education programs, or workforce training environment.
- Knowledge of industry-specific or technical vocabulary (e.g., manufacturing, healthcare, trades) is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a professional and respectful manner.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Job Specific Task List:



  • Provide accurate, confidential, and professional Spanish-English interpretation for Workforce Development classes, meetings, orientations, and other program-related events. - (Essential)
  • Facilitate effective communication between instructors, staff, students, and external partners. - (Essential)
  • Assist with the translation of essential written materials, including course handouts, forms, and announcements, as needed - (Essential)
  • Maintain cultural sensitivity and professionalism when working with different communities. - (Essential)
  • Ensure all interpretations and translations reflect the intended meaning and tone of the original communication - (Essential)
  • Comply with HACC and Workforce Development policies, confidentiality requirements, and ethical standards for interpreters. - (Essential)
  • Maintain flexibility to respond to on-call or scheduled assignments, which may include evenings or weekends - (Essential)
  • Travel between campuses and off-site locations to provide interpretation and limited translation services in support of HACC's Workforce Development programs - (Essential)
  • Performs other duties as assigned. - (Standard)


Job Type: Part-Time (less than 1,000 hours)
