Description Leidos is seeking a high-energy communications professional to support the Defense Systems Sector with a mix of external and internal communications responsibilities. Reporting to the Vice President, Defense Systems Sector Communications, this role will work in close partnership with the Defense Systems communications team to develop and deliver communications that inform, engage, and inspire employees while also strengthening Leidos' presence in the defense industry. This is a hands-on, mid-level role well-suited for a communicator with several years of experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility across multiple disciplines. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer, collaborative teammate, and detail-oriented project manager with proven ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment. Primary Responsibilities
- External Communications and Marketing
- Support execution of communications campaigns and initiatives that align with Defense Systems priorities.
- Draft and edit content that advances thought leadership and supports go-to-market strategies, including press releases, web copy, social posts, and collateral.
- Provide communications and logistical support for Defense Systems participation in trade shows, industry forums, and marketing activations.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex technical concepts into accessible, engaging content.
- Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
- Plan and create content for internal channels, including announcements, intranet articles, newsletters, and employee engagement campaigns.
- Support communications planning and execution for leadership forums, town halls, and employee events.
- Partner with the Sector Communications VP to deliver initiatives that strengthen culture, collaboration, and employee engagement across Defense Systems.
- Track and analyze communications effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Collaboration & Alignment
- Work closely with the Defense Systems communications team and key stakeholders across HR, Technology, Growth, and Program leadership.
- Coordinate with Corporate Communications and cross-functional partners to ensure alignment with Leidos' brand, messaging, and enterprise priorities.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- 4+ years of professional communications experience (internal, corporate, or marketing).
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail and tone.
- Experience creating content for digital platforms (e.g., intranet, newsletters, social, presentations, email).
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with collaboration platforms (Teams, SharePoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting employee engagement initiatives, internal communications, or change management programs.
- Exposure to marketing campaign execution, trade show communications, or external activations in the defense industry.
- Proficiency in AP style and corporate communications best practices.
- Experience working with or for government contractors, defense, or federal technology organizations.
- Familiarity with design tools, multimedia, or content management systems.
- Eligibility for a U.S. government security clearance.

Pay Range:Pay Range $63,700.00 - $115,150.00
